Scott A. Stone
Scott understands the needs of farmers and ranchers, having served for more than 30 years as a managing partner in Yolo Land & Cattle Co., a diversified family farming and cattle operation encompassing 15,000 acres of rangeland, 1,000 acres of irrigated pasture, and 700 acres of irrigated hay-crops located in Yolo, Solano, Colusa, and Alpine counties.
A licensed real estate agent and broker since 1987, Scott founded California Agricultural Properties Inc. in 1989. Since then, the company has sold more than $200 million in farm and ranch properties in the region. His past experience as an agricultural loan officer with Chico Production Credit Association gives him a good understanding of the agricultural banking process for crops, orchard development, equipment, and real estate purchase loans.
Since 2005, Scott has worked as a land agent for the city of Davis, helping to purchase open space agricultural conservation easements from willing sellers in the city’s sphere of influence. He also works with the city to sell easement-encumbered lands to conservation buyers.
From 2002 to 2009, Scott served as land agent for Yolo County Joint Powers Agency Swainson’s Hawk Conservation Easement program. He worked with landowners and agencies to develop and successfully implement conservation easements in Yolo County to protect the Swainson’s Hawk habitat.
A member of numerous organizations, including the California Cattlemen’s Association, National Cattlemen’s Association, Yolo County Farm Bureau, California Rangeland Trust, Scott grew up in Woodland, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural business management from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. Scott and his wife Karen live in Woodland with their two sons.
